Following Hungary’s elections, Polish Parliament Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty sharply criticized President Andrzej Duda’s recent meeting with Viktor Orbán.
Czarzasty’s Criticism of Nawrocki’s Meeting with Orbán
Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the Marshal of the Sejm, criticized the recent meeting between Karol Nawrocki and Viktor Orbán during an appearance on Polsat News’ “Graffiti” program. He stated that the President did not rationally assess the political situation in Hungary and that the meeting with Orbán “will haunt him.”
Czarzasty asserted that President Nawrocki “made an idiot of himself” by meeting with Orbán, given Hungary’s actions against the European Union, its hostility towards Poland, and its support for Putin.
“A Disgraceful Act”
Czarzasty described Nawrocki’s support for Orbán as “a disgrace,” emphasizing the negative perception of Orbán within Hungary itself. He stressed the importance of using “appropriate words” to describe the consequences of actions.
Accusations of Supporting Putin’s Ally
Czarzasty expressed shame that the Polish President would visit “Putin’s closest friend,” especially as Orbán faces a loss of power and his policies have been discredited. He argued that Orbán served as an intellectual link to Putin for Nawrocki.
US Ambassador’s Response to Czarzasty
US Ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, responded to Czarzasty’s comments, calling him “a threat” and accusing him of undermining Donald Trump and harming US-Poland relations. Rose characterized Czarzasty as a former communist official.
Previous Disputes with Ambassador Rose
This is not the first conflict between Rose and Czarzasty. Rose previously announced a cessation of communication with Czarzasty after the Marshal indicated he would not support a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Trump.
