Polish Party Suspends Member Over CPK Land Sale Scandal

Former Krajowy Ośrodek Wsparcia Rolnictwa director Waldemar Humięcki was suspended from PiS after the party confirmed a 160‑hectare sale to Dawton Ltd., a pivotal plot for Poland’s Central Communication Port, prompting further suspensions.

Suspensions in PiS

Jarosław Kaczyński suspended former director Waldemar Humięcki from PiS following revelations about the land sale. The decision mirrors earlier suspensions of Robert Telus and Rafał Romanowski.

Details of the Land Sale

In September 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development approved the sale of 160 hectares of land to the vice‑president of Dawton Ltd. The plot was previously owned by the National Agriculture Support Center.

The sale fetched 22.8 million PLN, and the buyer expects the land’s value to surge to potentially 400 million PLN in the future.

Central Communication Port Significance

The disputed land is central to the Central Communication Port (CPK) project, a flagship initiative widely endorsed across Polish society and viewed as a major governmental success.

Party’s Reaction to the Allegations

PiS’s spokesperson Rafał Bochenek confirmed the suspensions and noted that the party had expected the issue to resolve quietly, but the scale of public outcry surprised them.

Unfamiliarity with the Transaction

Robert Telus stated that he was unaware of the sale and of any involvement in the transaction, expressing surprise at the allegations.
