Polish Police Arrest 14 Individuals Linked to Pseudocybists for Drug Smuggling, Assaults and Money Laundering

Police in Poland detained 14 suspects connected to the pseudocybist subculture during a coordinated operation in 2024, accusing them of drug smuggling, violent assaults and money laundering.

National Coordinated Operation

Polish security services carried out a nationwide coordinated raid targeting organized criminal structures within the pseudocybist subculture, arresting 14 suspects accused of drug smuggling, violent assaults and money laundering.

Multi‑Agency Collaboration

Under the direction of the Małopolski Section of the National Department of Organized Crime and Corruption at the Ministry of Justice in Kraków, investigators from the Central Police Investigation Office, the Kraków Anti‑Corruption Bureau, the Carpathian Border Guard, the Kraków Police Headquarters, the Kraków City Police, and the Małopolska Customs and Tax Office carried out a joint operation.

Scope and Personnel

Simultaneous actions took place in both the Małopolska and Mazowieckie voivodeships, involving more than 100 officers from various services who concurrently detained suspects linked to violent criminal groups.

Charges and Quantified Evidence

Charges include participation in an organized criminal group, smuggling and trafficking of large quantities of narcotics, use of dangerous weapons for beatings, and money laundering. Investigations show that between 2015 and 2022, suspects smuggled roughly 350 kg of marijuana, cocaine, mefedron, and methamphetamine valued at over 5.5 million PLN.

Notable Violent Incidents

The indictment also covers brutal attacks against rival gang members. One of the most serious incidents occurred in 2017 on the A4 Kraków–Katowice highway, where the accused allegedly attempted to set opponents’ cars ablaze, then struck them with machetes and samurai swords, inflicting life‑threatening wounds.

Temporary Arrests and Future Actions

During the operation, authorities seized significant amounts of marijuana and mefedron. On the prosecutor’s request, the Kraków Śródmieście District Court imposed a three‑month temporary detention on nine suspects. The raid is hailed as one of the biggest blows to the pseudocybist network in recent years, with more than 50 arrests already made in the case. Law enforcement will continue operations aimed at completely dismantling the structures behind drug trafficking, extortion and other severe offenses.
