German Federal Police (CBŚP) arrested Mark M., known as “Lens,” in a flagship case related to illegal cigarette production. M., one of the most notorious figures in Poland’s underworld in the 1990s, was reportedly apprehended early Tuesday morning on Warsaw suburb of Wilanow’s Sarmacka Street.

Transported to Katowice Prosecutor’s Office

After being detained, M. was transported to the Katowice prosecutor’s office, where further legal proceedings are expected. The arrest relates to ongoing investigations into the illegal manufacture of tobacco products.

90s Crime Connections

According to reports, M. was a key figure in the mid-90s Szczecin underworld, linked to organized crime during that era. He spent approximately 15 years in prisons and detention centers combined, reportedly due to criminal cases.

Unexpected 2025 Court Ruling

In January 2025, the Katowice Appellate Court ruled to acquit M. in a high-profile case regarding the 1997 murder of Belarussian national, Victor F. Previously, M. had faced multiple charges in the long-standing case.
