At about 1 a.m. on Friday, December 5, Polish police and specialised fire crews inspected a suspected danger near the 11 Listopada street tracks in Praga‑Północ’s Żaba roundabout.
Suspicious Package Alert
A report received before 1 a.m. flagged a potentially dangerous object near railway infrastructure on 11 Listopada street, adjacent to the Żaba roundabout, linking Praga‑Północ and Targówek. The area is a communication node with nearby tracks, demanding instant verification.
Rapid Police Response
Officers from the district unit and the Prevention Division, accompanied by a specialised pyrotechnic vehicle tasked with explosive detection, were dispatched. They inspected the tracks and surrounding area for potential threats.
No Hazards Detected
After the inspection, no dangerous objects were found. The operation concluded without evacuation or additional protection measures. Services emphasized that full verification is the standard, especially near strategically important facilities.
Operation TOR Continuation
The night intervention at Żaba roundabout is part of nationwide police operation “TOR,” activated in late November following terrorist acts on the Warsaw–Lublin line. The operation focuses on preventing sabotage and securing rail infrastructure, operating under a third‑level Charlie alarm with heightened presence around stations, tracks, viaducts, and crossings. It is coordinated with the Railway Protection Service and the Polish Armed Forces, including Territorial Defense troops.
Public Safety Advisory
Residents are urged to avoid proximity to trackside railings, embankments, and tunnels and to report any suspicious activity to 112 immediately. Drones, intensive patrols, and continuous monitoring of the rail network are employed to minimise risk to public transport passengers and neighbourhood inhabitants. Earlier that month, a tram engineer noticed a suspicious package at the intersection of 11 Listopada and Targowa, prompting a similar rapid response that revealed the object was a component of a commercial alarm system.
