Polish Politicians’ Cybersecurity Training Participation Below 30%

Poland’s optional cybersecurity training for politicians has reached fewer than 30% of officials with access to sensitive data since 2021.

Low Participation in Cybersecurity Training

Since 2021, the Scientific and Academic Computer Network has been conducting optional cybersecurity training for parliamentarians, ministers, and their staff. In 2024, 592 participants completed the training, while in 2025, 258 participated. Over the four years of the program’s existence, nearly 2,000 people have been trained, representing less than 30% of the political staff of the state—those with access to sensitive data.

Expert Criticizes Politicians’ Attitude

Maciej Broniarz, a lecturer at the University of Warsaw and a cybersecurity expert, states that “the majority of MPs don’t care and the numbers show that.” He recalls a training session years ago for one of the political parties, noting that even if he showed slides with kittens and told random nonsense, the effect would be the same—no one would listen.
