In a survey released on November 26, 72 % of Poles said Zbigniew Ziobro should come back to face justice over the Justice Fund controversy.
Survey Results
Pollster Institute conducted the study from 15 to 17 November with 1,003 adult respondents. 72 % answered that Ziobro should return, 14 % opposed, and 14 % were undecided.
National Prosecutor’s Note to Sejm
The previous day, the National Prosecutor’s Office informed that the Sejm may assess whether Ziobro should be brought before the State Tribunal for constitutional responsibility. Prosecutor General Waldemar Żurek sent a letter to the Sejm Marshal outlining the accusations.
Charges and Possible Sentence
Ziobro faces 26 charges, including forming and leading an organized crime group and defrauding money from the Justice Fund. If convicted, the maximum sentence could reach 25 years in prison.
Current Status
The politician is believed to remain in Hungary while investigations continue.
