Polish Premier Tusk Criticises Hooligan Violence Amid 12‑Year‑Old Beating and Highway Attack on Spanish Fans

Prime Minister Donald Tusk denounced the violent attacks that occurred on Dec. 4 in Gdynia – a 12‑year‑old boy was beaten – and on Dec. 11 on the S8 motorway against Spanish fans, calling them a breach of public order.

Tusk Calls Out Hooligan Violence

On December 12, Donald Tusk posted that “stadium hooligans are active again. Gdynia beat a twelve‑year‑old hard; near Białogostk Spanish fans were attacked with hammers and sharp objects. Angry as ever. The police have already caught the perpetrators. Fortunately here the president has no veto power.”

In reply, a spokesperson for Karol Nawrocki said that the prime minister, who has turned attacks on the President of Poland into a political target, brings no gravitas to the country and that Tusk’s emotional agitation only deepens the situation.

Gdynia Incident: 12‑Year‑Old Beaten

Bałtyk Gdynia reported on December 4 that a 12‑year‑old supporter was approached by a group of five twenty‑year‑old Arka Gdynia hooligans. The boy was lured into a nearby alley where the group forced him to record humiliating videos before brutally beating him.

The child was later found by his mother with injuries to his facial skull, spine, and a concussion. The incident prompted police investigations into the group of perpetrators.

S8 Highway Attack on Spanish Fans and Police Response

On December 11, two coaches carrying Spanish fans on the S8 near Prosienica were stopped by a convoy of twenty cars. Minutes later, thirty‑something individuals from the forest confronted the drivers and the fans.

Police were called to the scene, preventing further escalation, but several people were hurt and three were taken to hospital. The confrontation was linked to local residents surrounding the Białogostk area.

Police Arrests and Seized Weapons

Police stated that they established a barrier separating the service road from the S8, stopped two vehicles and four individuals, all residents of Białogostk. Seven persons were arrested in total.

The officers seized various weapons, including metal cutting tools, wooden batons, and other implements used in the attack.
