Polish President Allegedly Left in the Dark Over F-16 Missile Incident

The Polish president and his office claim they were not fully informed about an F-16 missile incident in Wyryki, sparking a dispute with the defense ministry.

Background of the Incident

The incident occurred on the night of September 9-10, when a missile from a Polish F-16 fighter jet damaged a house in Wyryki, Lublin Voivodeship. Fortunately, the missile did not explode due to its safety features.

Dispute Over Information Sharing

According to Tomasz Siemoniak, the minister in charge of the incident, the information available suggests the missile was fired by a Polish aircraft in defense of Poland. However, Marcin Przydacz, head of the International Policy Bureau at the President’s Chancellery, claimed that the president was not fully informed about the incident.

Przydacz stated that the president’s office received a report on the incident only after it was made public by the newspaper “Rzeczpospolita”.

Minister’s Response

Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Minister of National Defense, responded to Przydacz’s claims, stating that everyone, including the president, was informed about the incident and that information was provided on an ongoing basis.

Kosiniak-Kamysz suggested that someone was trying to undermine the cooperation between institutions and accused them of having a “bad will”.
