Polish President and Foreign Minister Travel Separately to US

Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski traveled to the US separately, diverging from a long-standing tradition.

Polish President Karol Nawrocki and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski are attending the UN General Assembly in New York, but they traveled to the US on different flights. This decision broke with a tradition where the president and foreign minister would travel together on the same plane.

Marcin Przydacz’s Comments

Marcin Przydacz, head of the President’s International Policy Bureau, stated that there was no request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Sikorski to travel with Nawrocki. He mentioned that in documents, there is one Polish delegation led by Nawrocki, with Sikorski as a member.

Paweł Wroński’s Statement

Paweł Wroński, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noted on social media that there had been an “elegant tradition” of the president inviting the foreign minister on the same flight to the UN General Assembly.

President’s Speech and Meetings

Karol Nawrocki will deliver a speech at the UN General Assembly, focusing on security challenges posed by Russia’s aggressive stance. He will also meet with Polish-American community representatives and investors during his visit.
