Polish President Karol Nawrocki has landed in New York, beginning a visit that includes meetings with global leaders, the Polish diaspora, and participation in the United Nations General Assembly.
President’s Itinerary
Karol Nawrocki’s presidential plane landed at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York around 19:00 local time (1:00 AM Polish time). On Sunday evening, Nawrocki will meet with the Polish diaspora at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Częstochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where he will present state decorations.
The President and First Lady Marta Nawrocka will also unveil a commemorative plaque for Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, attend a mass, and lay a wreath at the Victim of Katyń Monument.
Meetings with Global Leaders
On Monday, President Nawrocki will participate in a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations’ founding and discuss investments with Alphabet and Google’s president and investment director.
Nawrocki is also scheduled to meet with the President of the World Jewish Congress, Ronald Lauder, and hold talks with the presidents of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, as well as UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of the 80th UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock.
Main Event: UN General Assembly
The main event of Nawrocki’s visit will be his address to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, followed by a welcome reception hosted by the President of the United States.
On Wednesday, Nawrocki will meet with the presidents of Montenegro and South Korea.
Separate Visits
Notably, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will also visit New York for the UN General Assembly but will travel separately from the President. The head of the International Policy Bureau, Marcin Przydacz, stated that there was no request for Sikorski to travel with Nawrocki on the same plane.
