Polish President Posthumously Honors MP Łukasz Litewka

President Karol Nawrocki has posthumously awarded MP Łukasz Litewka the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his social and parliamentary work.

Posthumous Honor for MP Łukasz Litewka

President Karol Nawrocki decided to posthumously honor Member of Parliament Łukasz Litewka. The distinction was awarded for his social activity and commitment to the residents.

The Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta is one of the highest state decorations, awarded to individuals particularly deserving of the country. In the case of Łukasz Litewka, the decision concerned his many years of social activity, conducted in parallel with his parliamentary work.

MP Litewka’s Social Initiatives

The MP was known for his direct involvement in helping those in need. His initiative, #TeamLitewka, organized fundraising for the treatment of children, the purchase of rehabilitation equipment, and support for people affected by accidents.

The activities also included assistance for animals and interventions in crisis situations in the region.

Circumstances of MP Litewka’s Death

The accident occurred on April 23rd in the Silesian Voivodeship. Investigations revealed that the 57-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Colt crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a bicycle ridden by the MP.

Despite resuscitation efforts, Łukasz Litewka died at the scene.

Legal Proceedings Against the Driver

The prosecutor charged the driver with causing a fatal traffic accident. Investigators indicate that there was a negligent violation of traffic safety rules. Initially, it was suggested the driver had lost consciousness or fallen asleep at the wheel, but this hypothesis was not confirmed.

Court Decision and Ongoing Investigation

The District Court in Dąbrowa Górnicza decided to temporarily arrest the suspect for three months. However, it allowed for his release upon payment of a property bond of 40,000 PLN within 14 days.

If the bond is paid, the man will be subject to police supervision and a ban on leaving the country.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and investigators are analyzing the specific circumstances of the event.
