On September 17, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk addressed the media, expressing frustration with critics of the military’s actions at the eastern border.
During a press conference before a meeting of the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed his frustration with those criticizing the actions of Polish soldiers and border guards. He emphasized that those serving to protect Poland’s borders and citizens must feel supported by the state.
Tusk’s comments appear to be in response to recent incidents, including the alleged damage to a home in Wyryki caused by a Polish F-16 missile fired at Russian drones. The incident sparked controversy, with President Karol Nawrocki calling for swift clarification.
The Prime Minister stressed that it is essential for the state to stand behind its soldiers and border guards, ensuring they can make decisions without fear of criticism or repercussions. He acknowledged that mistakes can happen but argued that paralyzing the decision-making process would be the greatest error.
Tusk expressed his exasperation with “thousands of know-it-alls” who have never been involved in the military but offer opinions on how the army should act. He emphasized that national interest and state security require an end to such criticism.
