Polish Public Opinion: Courts & Prosecutors Gain Ground, Military Remains Popular

A CBOS poll in March reveals improving public perception of Poland’s judicial system and military, while presidential approval remains stable.

President Nawrocki’s Approval Steady

In March, 50% of respondents viewed President Karol Nawrocki positively, consistent with February’s results. Negative opinions decreased to 38% (down 1 percentage point), while the number of undecided voters rose slightly from 11% to 12%.

CBOS notes that President Nawrocki continues to receive more positive than negative assessments, and the minor shifts do not indicate a change in the current trend.

Parliament and Senate Assessments

31% of respondents rated the Sejm (lower house of parliament) positively, a 1 percentage point decrease from the previous month, while 53% viewed it negatively, and 16% had no opinion. The Senate received positive ratings from 34% of respondents, unchanged from February, with 39% critical and 27% unsure.

Constitutional Tribunal Showing Slight Improvement

Public opinion of the Constitutional Tribunal has modestly improved over the past six months. Positive assessments rose from 21% in September to 26% currently, while negative opinions decreased from 43% to 37%.

Courts and Prosecutors See Rising Approval

Compared to a September survey, the CBOS poll shows increased positive evaluations of both courts and prosecutors. Currently, 30% of respondents view the functioning of the courts favorably, a 5 percentage point increase since September. 47% hold a negative view (down 1 percentage point), and 24% are undecided (down 3 percentage points).

The increase is more pronounced for the prosecutor’s office, with 34% expressing a positive opinion (up 6 percentage points from September). Negative assessments decreased to 30% (down 6 percentage points), while 36% remain undecided.

Demographic Trends in Judicial Approval

CBOS observes that younger, less educated respondents, and those identifying with left-leaning or centrist views, generally express higher satisfaction with the courts and prosecutors. Criticism is more common among respondents aged 40 or older, with higher levels of education, and those identifying with the political right.

Local Government Approval Declines Slightly

67% of respondents view local government positively, a 4 percentage point decrease from a September survey, while 24% hold a negative view, and 9% are undecided.

Military Maintains High Public Trust

Despite a slight decrease, the Polish military continues to enjoy very high public approval. 80% of respondents view the military positively, compared to 82% in September. 5% hold a negative view, and 15% have no clear position (up from 13% in September).

Political Affiliations and Military Views

Positive opinions of the military consistently dominate across all socio-demographic groups and political affiliations. However, a relatively large group of critics exists among potential Konfederacja Korony Polskiej (Confederation of the Crown) voters, with 14% expressing negative views. Among voters of KO, PiS, and Konfederacja, negative assessments do not exceed 3% (PiS).

Across all considered electorates, positive assessments prevail, ranging from 70% among KKP voters to 89% among Konfederacja voters.

Survey Methodology

The survey was conducted from March 5th to 15th, 2026, with a sample size of 1012 individuals (64.4% via CAPI, 20.2% via CATI, and 15.4% via CAWI).
