Polish rapper Jongmen was detained in the United Arab Emirates on December 8 after Interpol red notice and police confirmation, following rumors that surfaced late last year.
Arrest confirmed in UAE
Polish rapper Jongmen was apprehended in the United Arab Emirates, as reported by Radio ZET journalist Mariusz Gierszewski on Monday, 8 December. Police later confirmed the detention, with spokesperson Katarzyna Nowak of the Główny Komitet Pościgu (GKP) noting that the Interpol office had been notified.
Interpol’s red notice
Interpol began pursuing the 35‑year‑old rapper in 2022, issuing a red notice that remained active during his arrest. The notice was issued under the request of a particular Polish authority and is intended to facilitate international cooperation in locating and apprehending the individual.
Background of the case
Jongmen had been residing in the UAE for several years. Investigators suspect he participated in “the introduction of large amounts of drug substances into circulation,” a charge that led to the issuance of the red notice. In an interview with Kryminalna Polska in November, the sought artist acknowledged the existence of the notice and warned that if detained, he would be sent to prison pending trial.
What is a red notice?
A red notice is an international request for the location and arrest of a person, issued by Interpol and sent to law‑enforcement agencies worldwide. Its purpose is to facilitate extradition or, in some cases, to solicit public assistance when the individual may pose a threat to public safety or be difficult to locate.
