The Polish Sejm reconvened Wednesday to debate parliamentary rules, judicial curator changes, AI systems, and address questions regarding Zondacrypto.
Sejm Resumes Deliberations
The Sejm resumed its session on Wednesday after 9 a.m., with debates planned on amendments to its Rules of Procedure. Lawmakers will also consider a government draft amending the Act on Judicial Guardians and a bill concerning artificial intelligence systems.
Amendments to Sejm Rules of Procedure
The first draft amendment to the Sejm’s Rules of Procedure proposes that motions to supplement the agenda and requests for current information must be submitted by 7 p.m. the day before the Sejm meeting, instead of the current 9 p.m. deadline.
A second draft outlines requirements for parliamentary group composition, stipulating that a parliamentary group must consist of at least five MPs, while a parliamentary team requires at least five MPs and one senator.
Changes to the Act on Judicial Guardians
Lawmakers will also address the government’s draft amendment to the Act on Judicial Guardians. The proposed changes include a potential acceleration of the path to the guardianship exam, allowing the Minister of Justice to waive the remaining part of the traineeship in specific, justified cases, without exempting the candidate from the exam.
The Ministry of Justice states that the changes aim to streamline the organizational aspects of the court guardianship service, clarify regulations, and resolve interpretative doubts.
Artificial Intelligence Systems Bill
The Sejm will also consider a government bill on artificial intelligence systems, covering the organization and supervision of the AI market, including general-purpose AI models within the scope of EU regulations.
The Commission for Development and Security of Artificial Intelligence will be responsible for controlling these technologies and supporting their development.
PiS to Question Zondacrypto
MPs will also hear current information regarding significant investments in railway repairs and new connections, requested by the Civic Coalition (KO) from the Minister of Infrastructure. PiS lawmakers intend to question the Coordinator of Special Services about the Zondacrypto case during the question period.
