Polish Senate Marshal Tomasz Grodzki claims PiS launched propaganda attacks after he refused a ministerial position.
Grodzki: PiS Used “Entire Propaganda Machinery” Against Me
Polish Senate Marshal Tomasz Grodzki commented on a court ruling regarding a defamation case against former Radio Szczecin journalist Tomasz Duklanowski, who had accused Grodzki of taking bribes. The court found Duklanowski guilty of defamation.
Grodzki stated that the verdict is “a relief after six years.” He added: “This is how the system created by Mr. Zbigniew Ziobro works. The entire propaganda machinery was used to regain control of the Senate.”
In the previous parliamentary term, Grodzki emphasized, the Senate was the only constitutional institution standing against the “sea of PiS.” He noted that PiS did everything to regain control, including defamation and offers to the families of politicians. At that time, they had a very small minority with only one senator.
Grodzki: PiS Offered Ministerial Positions, No Senator Accepted Bribes
Civic Coalition politician Tomasz Grodzki stated that during the previous parliamentary term, PiS offered him the position of Minister of Health. “When I refused and became Marshal of the Senate, the attacks began,” he said.
Grodzki added that “other senators were also offered various ministerial positions, and their families were supposed to receive so-called ‘frukty’ [benefits].” He expressed particular pride that “in the Senate, unlike in the Sejm, no one betrayed or fell for bribes.”
“It was prophesied that the Senate would last only three months. Not only did we last four years, but in the end, two PiS senators voted with us,” noted Tomasz Grodzki.
