Polish Soldier Dies in Warsaw After Collapsing Behind the Wheel

A Polish Army soldier died Wednesday evening in Warsaw after losing consciousness while driving his car, prompting an investigation by military authorities.

Soldier Collapses While Driving

Emergency services were called to a location in Warsaw on the evening of March 18th regarding a man in a Mazda who had lost consciousness. He was removed from the vehicle, and resuscitation efforts lasted for over an hour.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man could not be saved.

Military Confirms Soldier’s Identity

The Military Gendarmerie confirmed the deceased was a soldier of the Polish Army. Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Tomasz Wiktorowicz stated the soldier was off-duty at the time of the incident.

“The soldier lost consciousness behind the wheel. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful,” Wiktorowicz said. He added there was no indication of third-party involvement, describing the incident as “random.”

Military Gendarmerie Takes Over Investigation

Following the confirmation that the deceased was a soldier, the Military Gendarmerie assumed control of the investigation, a matter within their statutory competencies.

Necessary procedures were carried out at the scene, and further actions will be led by the prosecutor’s office.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of Death

The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. The Warsaw-Ursynów District Prosecutor’s Office, Military Division, has taken over the case.

The exact cause and circumstances of the man’s death are currently unknown. An autopsy will be crucial in determining the direct cause of death.
