Polish State to Pay Up to 3287 zł Monthly for Care of Children with 150+ Qualifying Conditions

Poland offers monthly care allowance of up to 3287 zł to parents who must quit work to care for children with serious health conditions.

Who is the Care Allowance For? Key Provisions and Conditions

The Polish support system for families provides various forms of assistance for individuals affected by illness or disability. One of the most important solutions is the care allowance, which aims to compensate for the inability to work by the caregiver. This allowance has a guaranteed character and is paid monthly to those who actually resign from professional activity to provide constant care for a child requiring special support.

A Disability Assessment is Not Everything – Additional Criteria for the Care Allowance

The right to a care allowance for a child does not always result from a significant disability assessment. Although in many cases the basis is a disability assessment, additional criteria indicated in this document must be met.

Points 7 and 8 in the Assessment – More Important Than the Diagnosis Itself

According to Polish law, so-called expert opinions defined by the assessment committee are key. For a parent or caregiver to be granted the care allowance, the child’s assessment must contain two specific annotations indicating the need for constant care.

Who Can Apply for 3287 zł Under the Care Allowance? List of Eligible Persons

The care allowance is granted to parents if the care concerns a child up to 18 years of age who meets specific criteria outlined in the disability assessment. It is these indications that decide on the granting of the care allowance – not the name of the disease.

List of 150+ Diseases Qualifying for the Care Allowance

The range of diseases and health disorders that justify the need for constant care has been clearly defined in Polish regulations. The regulation of the Minister of Labor and Social Policy specifies what medical conditions and developmental deficits may result in recognition that the child requires constant or long-term care. In practice, this covers over 150 disease entities, but the disability assessment always has key importance, not just the diagnosis.

How Much is the Care Allowance in 2026? Indexation Rules

From 2026, the care allowance will be 3386 zł monthly. This amount is subject to indexation and is independent of the family’s income, meaning it is granted regardless of the earnings of the second parent or caregiver.
