Polish Teacher Makes History as Global Teacher Prize 2026 Finalist

Polish teacher Ewa Drobek becomes the first Polish educator to reach the top ten of the Global Teacher Prize 2026.

In the Global Teacher Prize 2026 competition, Polish teacher Ewa Drobek made it to the top ten, marking the first time a Polish educator has reached this stage in the competition.

The winner of the “Teacher’s Nobel” will receive a prize of one million dollars.

Profile: Ewa Drobek

Ewa Drobek has 25 years of teaching experience and has made a real impact on thousands of students’ lives. She teaches English and German at XV High School with Bilingual Departments named after Narcyza Żmichowska in Warsaw.

Drobek has been awarded fifteen prizes for her educational projects, written 76 publications for teachers, and co-authored two e-books on innovation and fighting disinformation that have been translated into foreign languages.

Teaching Philosophy

Drobek uses innovative teaching methods, implements artistic projects, and promotes values such as equality, empathy, and high-quality education. She places special emphasis on integration, supporting students with disabilities, refugees, and those at risk of exclusion.

“I will fly to Dubai, representing Poland with great humility and joy,” she said. “What matters most is what happens between me and my students in the classroom.”

Global Teacher Prize Winner

The 2026 “Teacher’s Nobel” was awarded to Rouble Nagi from India, who has created over 800 educational centers in more than 100 villages. She was honored for providing education access to the most excluded communities, with the ceremony taking place in Dubai.

The Global Teacher Prize, organized since 2015 by the Varkey Foundation in cooperation with UNESCO, recognizes exceptional teachers worldwide who promote innovative teaching methods, inclusivity, and children’s rights, driving positive changes through education.
