Polish Trucks Fined 1,000 zł for “Elephant Race” on A2 Motorway

Police in Siedlce used drones to enforce a ban on truck overtaking on the A2 motorway, fining four drivers 1,000 zł each after dangerous “elephant race” maneuvers.

Drone‑Assisted Checks on the A2

Police from the Siedlce road police used a Radom KWP drone to conduct intensive checks on the A2 motorway. Officers focused on enforcing the ban on heavy‑truck overtaking.

Legal Restrictions on Truck Overtaking

Current regulations prohibit trucks over 3.5 tonnes from overtaking passenger cars on two‑lane motorways and expressways. Violations can incur a 1,000 zł fine and up to eight penalty points.

Four Drivers Fined

During the operation, four truck drivers ignored the overtaking ban and performed dangerous maneuvers. Each received a 1,000 zł fine and eight penalty points.

Police Appeal to Drivers

Police urged all truck operators to adhere to the rules and respect the overtaking ban on expressways and motorways. Such conduct not only hampers traffic but also raises collision risk.
