Poll: 52% of Poles Want Ziobro Extradited from Hungary

A majority of Poles support government efforts to extradite Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro from Hungary despite his asylum status, according to a new poll.

Majority Support Government Action

A recent poll conducted by Opinia24 for RMF FM found that 52% of Poles believe the government should take further steps to bring Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro back to Poland and put him before a court, despite him having obtained asylum in Hungary. The poll, conducted January 12-14, showed 35% “definitely yes” and 17% “rather yes,” while 22% were against (11% “definitely no” and 11% “rather no”). 26% of respondents had no opinion.

Support Varies by Demographic

The poll revealed that support for bringing Ziobro back was highest among people over 60 (57%), those with higher education (56%), and women (53%). Interestingly, 92% of Civic Coalition voters supported the government taking action regarding Ziobro.

Hungary Refuses to Comment on Asylum

When asked about Ziobro’s asylum status, Hungary’s National Directorate-General for Aliens Police declined to provide details, citing strict data protection regulations governing asylum procedures. Both Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro and his wife Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro have received asylum in Hungary in recent days.
