Survey from January 28, 2026 reveals 39.6% of Poles believe justice system has worsened under current government.
Poll Results on Justice System
A SW Research survey commissioned by Onet asked Poles if they believe the justice system has improved compared to the United Right government’s era. While 33.2% said yes, 39.6% said no, and 27.3% were uncertain. The survey of 800 adults was conducted nationwide.
Factors Behind Negative Perceptions
The October 15 Coalition has been in power for over two years without delivering on promised accountability for the previous government. Despite ongoing prosecutor investigations, two PiS politicians, Marcin Romanowski and Zbigniew Ziobro, fled to Hungary and received asylum. The “rule of law restoration” efforts have also been questioned, with President Karol Nawrocki expressing doubts about the recently submitted National Council of the Judiciary bill.
Justice Minister Under Scrutiny
Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek faces police investigation after a video showed him driving during an interview, allegedly failing to yield to a pedestrian. “Traffic safety rules apply to everyone,” Żurek stated, adding, “The final assessment belongs to the police. We are all equal before the law. If an offense occurred, I do not evade responsibility.”
