Poll Results on Trump’s Unpredictability
A Reuters/Ipsos poll indicates 61% of Americans believe President Trump is becoming more unpredictable with age. Thirty percent of Republicans and 89% of Democrats hold this view, while 7% have no opinion.
When asked if Trump is “mentally sharp and able to face challenges,” 45% agreed and 49% disagreed. Among Republicans, 89% said yes, compared to 19% of Democrats.
Trump’s Age and Term
Trump turned 80 in June of this year and will conclude his presidential term in January 2029. His overall popularity has remained stable at approximately 40% in recent months, a two-point increase from early this month.
The poll was conducted in the United States from February 18-23 among a sample of 4,638 adults.
State of the Union Speech and Guest Invitations
On Wednesday, Trump delivered his annual State of the Union address before a joint session of Congress. Presidents and lawmakers traditionally invite special guests whose stories illustrate key political debates.
Democrats invited individuals linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case, including a woman who accused him of sexual abuse, to emphasize unresolved issues and the Trump administration’s failure to release millions of documents. Guests also included a Wisconsin farmer representing soybean producers concerned about Trump’s tariffs and a mother of a student detained by authorities.
Republicans invited the family of a Louisiana police officer killed in the line of duty to highlight public safety. The White House also attempted to invite the Olympic gold medal-winning hockey team as a symbol of national unity, but the women’s team declined after Trump had previously congratulated only the men’s team.
