A new poll reveals 52% of Poles support government efforts to bring former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro back to Poland for trial despite his Hungarian asylum.

In a survey conducted by Opinia24 for RMF FM on January 12-14, 52% of respondents supported government action to bring Zbigniew Ziobro back to Poland for trial, despite him having received asylum in Hungary. This included 35% who answered “definitely yes” and 17% who chose “rather yes.” Meanwhile, 22% opposed the action, with 11% saying “definitely no” and another 11% choosing “rather no.” 26% of respondents had no opinion on the matter.
Support by Demographic Groups
The survey showed the strongest support for government action came from people over 60 years old, with 57% in favor. Those with higher education supported bringing Ziobro back at 56%. More women than men favored the action, with 53% of female respondents supporting it. Civic Coalition voters showed the highest support at 92%.
Hungarian Response on Asylum
When asked for details about Ziobro’s asylum, Hungary’s Ministry of the Interior referred the inquiry to the National Directorate-General for the Police for Aliens. The Hungarian agency cited strict data protection laws governing asylum procedures as the reason for not disclosing any information. It should be noted that both Zbigniew Ziobro and his wife Patrycja Kotecka-Ziobro received asylum in Hungary in recent days.
