Poll Shows Polish President and Kaczyński Tied as Right-Wing Leaders

New Pollster survey reveals Polish president and PiS chairman each backed by 41% as right-wing leaders.

Poll Results

A new Pollster Institute poll conducted for “Super Express” asked respondents to identify who they consider the leader of the right in Poland. Participants could choose from four options: Grzegorz Braun, Jarosław Kaczyński, Sławomir Mentzen, and Karol Nawrocki.

The president and PiS chairman tied for first place, each receiving support from 41% of respondents. Grzegorz Braun of the Confederation of the Polish Crown came in second with 9%, followed by Sławomir Mentzen with 7%. Two percent of respondents selected “someone else.”

Expert Analysis

Political science professor Bartłomiej Biskup commented that “the president cannot be a political leader in the literal sense” but can serve as a patron for right-wing groups. He suggested the poll results indicate “it’s time for a change of guard.”

Dr. Sergiusz Trzeciak emphasized that “Karol Nawrocki has significant influence over PiS,” noting that “the party is dependent on his decisions” since the president can veto legislation.

Presidential Meeting with Ministers

On Thursday, January 15, the president will meet with Vice Premier and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Special Services Coordinator Tomasz Siemoniak, and heads of intelligence services. Both sides hope to establish new communication channels to resolve crisis situations.

The president previously refused to grant officer ranks in military intelligence and counterintelligence in November. He also declined to award state decorations to special services personnel on Independence Day, an action Siemoniak criticized, stating that even “fatal presidential decisions cannot take away the highest respect they deserve.”

Poll Methodology

The Pollster Institute conducted the survey on behalf of “Super Express” between December 31 and January 1, with a sample of 1,002 adult Poles.
