Popular Asthma Medication Veriflo Pulled from Polish Pharmacies Nationwide

Poland’s Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate has withdrawn all series of asthma inhaler Veriflo due to dosage irregularities detected in quality tests.

The Product Details

The recalled product is Veriflo, an inhalation aerosol suspension containing Salmeterol + Fluticasone propionate, 25 micrograms + 50 micrograms per measured dose, packaged in 120-dose inhalers. It has registration number 26935, and the responsible entity is Zentiva k.s. based in Prague.

Veriflo is a prescription-only medication used daily by thousands of patients with chronic respiratory diseases, forming a standard part of pulmonary therapy.

The Recall Decision

The Chief Pharmaceutical Inspectorate (GIF) issued a decision on March 2, 2026, mandating the withdrawal of all series of the specified medicinal product from the market across Poland and prohibiting its introduction into circulation.

The decision has immediate effect, meaning it is enforceable upon delivery without waiting for final confirmation.

Patient Instructions

If you have Veriflo (25 µg + 50 µg/dose, 120 doses) at home, verify the product name and dosage on the packaging. The decision covers this specific product and all its batches.

Do not use the affected medication. Contact your prescribing physician to determine alternative therapy. Then, return the product to the pharmacy, which must accept it due to the recall decision.

Refund Process

Pharmaceutical law requires pharmacies to accept returns of products withdrawn from circulation. Detailed procedures are implemented based on the GIF decision and wholesale practices. While keeping a receipt is recommended, it is usually not mandatory for recalled items.

Alternative Treatments

Other combinations of salmeterol and fluticasone are available in various doses. Your doctor may switch you to an equivalent product, adjust the dosage, or temporarily modify your treatment plan. For patients receiving free medications (e.g., for children or seniors 65+), it is crucial to check if the alternative is also covered by the reimbursement list.
