Portuguese authorities state that the country’s airports have sufficient aviation fuel reserves to last at least three months, reassuring travelers.
Fuel Reserves Sufficient for Three Months
Portugal has assured tourists that its airports have fuel reserves sufficient for at least three months, according to government estimates.
Minister of Infrastructure Miguel Pinto Luz stated that all Portuguese airports have “adequate reserves of aviation fuel.”
No Current Threat to Flight Operations
The minister, responsible for Portugal’s energy policy, assured that there is “currently no threat” to the operation of airports or local airlines.
Domestic Fuel Production
Currently, 80 percent of the aviation fuel used by carriers operating in Portugal is produced domestically, according to the government of Prime Minister Luís Montenegro.
Industry Confirmation
Antonio Moura Portugal, president of the Portuguese Association of Airline Companies (RENA), confirmed these estimates, stating that rising fuel prices should not disrupt airline operations in the country in the coming months.
