Group of 19 Poland 2050 MPs submitted motion to oust club leader Paweł Śliz and change rules amid internal conflict.
Motion Submitted
On Tuesday morning, parliamentary group members loyal to Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska submitted a motion to recall Paweł Śliz from his role as leader of the Poland 2050 parliamentary club. They also proposed changes to the club’s regulations, including reducing the votes required for such changes from three-fifths to a simple majority.
Śliz did not put the motions to a vote during the Tuesday club meeting, citing the absence of nine parliamentarians.
Letter Explains Motives
Later Tuesday, Hennig-Kloska’s group sent a letter to party structures signed by 19 MPs and senators. It states they observe a deepening crisis in the parliamentary club, accusing current leadership of failing to de-escalate conflict and of exacerbating divisions through meeting conduct and publicizing internal disputes.
The signatories cite lack of openness to dialogue, delayed decisions, and limited debate as persistent issues. They emphasize their goal is to protect the club’s future, respecting democratic choices but reserving the right to verify leadership when it harms club unity and effectiveness.
Rule Change Goals and Signatories
The group submitted a draft amendment to the club’s regulations aiming to strengthen the General Assembly’s role, clarify procedures, and protect members from arbitrary decisions. They deny an immediate power grab, framing it as a response to systemic problems. They also urged Śliz to immediately call a General Assembly allowing both in-person and remote participation.
The letter was signed by 19 parliamentarians: MPs Elżbieta Burkiewicz, Żaneta Cwalina Śliwowska, Sławomir Ćwik, Paulina Hennig Kloska, Rafał Kasprzyk, Rafał Komarewicz, Aleksandra Leo, Barbara Okuła, Barbara Oliwiecka, Ryszard Petru, Marcin Skonieczka, Mirosław Suchoń, Ewa Szymanowska, Paweł Zalewski, Norbert Pietrykowski; and Senators Grzegorz Fedorowicz, Piotr Masłowski, Mirosław Różański, Jacek Trela.
Uncertain Timeline
There is no confirmed date or even certainty that the motions to change the regulations and recall Śliz will be considered. No meeting of the Poland 2050 parliamentary club is currently scheduled in the near future. The club consists of 36 members (31 MPs and 5 senators), which would be sufficient to pass regulatory changes.
