Prague Airport Alarmed by Report of Approaching Drone Swarm

An anonymous caller warned Czech authorities of a looming swarm of drones heading toward Prague Airport on Friday evening, prompting immediate security measures.

Anonymous Caller Reports Incoming Drone Swarm

During a Friday evening call, an anonymous, English‑speaking caller informed Czech services that a swarm of drones was approaching Prague Airport.

The information was taken seriously, and Czech authorities immediately activated security procedures.

Security Measures Activated Around Airport

Security teams activated detection and tracking systems near the airport, and police snipers were deployed from two positions to monitor potential airborne targets.

Army technical support was provided, with stationary radars capable of detecting low‑flying objects up to several kilometers, and a police helicopter patrolled the airspace above the airport.

Flight Operations Continue Amid Threat

Despite the threat, airport operations continued normally, and services emphasized that no drones or signs of their presence had been detected in Czech territory.

Police acknowledged they had information about a possible drone arrival time but withheld the data for tactical reasons.

Preparedness and Possible Closure Plan

If the information proves credible, authorities are prepared to immediately close the airspace and block all access routes to the airport, though such a decision would carry significant operational and logistical consequences and would only be taken once the danger is confirmed.

Context of Recent Drone Attacks on Airfields

Earlier on September 22, unmanned aircraft appeared over airports in Denmark, with a repeat incident days later.

Drones also targeted German airports, military and strategic sites, and on October 3 Munich Airport was closed for several hours.
