Vetoes as Ego Show
He argued that the President’s vetoes are not based on substantial objections but on a need to demonstrate power. Examples cited include the “chain law” and a proposal to create a national park in the Lower Odrzańska Valley.
Impact on Legislative Process
Czarzasty pointed out that the President has vetoed roughly twenty laws, questioning what he can build when he merely blocks legislation without offering alternatives. This, he warned, could lead to a paralysis of state work and deepen conflict between the government and the presidential palace.
Call for Dialogue
While stating he is open to conversation, the leader emphasized that any dialogue must stem from genuine cooperation. He urged the President to make even a small gesture of willingness to negotiate instead of choosing confrontation.
Vetoed Laws Reintroduced
President Nawrocki has repeatedly vetoed laws of former Prime Minister Donald Tusk, claiming they are harmful. Recently, he has announced that these laws will be brought back to his desk for reconsideration, proposing modified versions in exchange for some previously vetoed proposals. Czarzasty warned of a forthcoming “marshal” veto, arguing that presidentially drafted laws are poorly prepared and should not be processed.
