President, Parliament, and Senate: Public Approval Ratings Revealed

A new CBOS survey conducted in May 2026 shows mixed public sentiment toward Poland’s key institutions, with President Karol Nawrocki maintaining a slight lead in positive ratings while legislative bodies face declining support.

Presidential Approval Ratings

In May, 46 percent of respondents evaluated the performance of President Karol Nawrocki positively, marking a one-point increase. Conversely, 42 percent expressed a negative opinion, a two-point decrease from the previous month. Overall, the balance of opinion remains largely stable compared to April, with positive assessments leading negative ones by four percentage points.

Assessment of the Sejm

The Sejm saw a decline in its performance ratings, with 33 percent of respondents viewing its activities positively, down by four percentage points. Negative assessments rose to 49 percent, a one-point increase. The percentage of respondents without a clear opinion grew by three points, reaching 18 percent.

Public Sentiment Toward the Senate

The Senate recorded 37 percent positive ratings, a one-point drop, while 38 percent of respondents expressed dissatisfaction, an increase of two percentage points. CBOS notes that this shift is marginal and falls within the statistical margin of error. 25 percent of those surveyed had no opinion on the institution’s performance.

Parliamentary Trends

CBOS emphasizes that, compared to April, overall parliamentary ratings have slightly deteriorated, primarily driven by the Sejm’s performance. While presidential ratings remain steady, the downward trend in legislative approval continues to be a point of focus in the latest data.

Methodology

The CBOS study was conducted between May 7 and May 17, 2026, using a mixed-mode approach on a representative sample of 1,041 adult Polish residents selected from the PESEL registry. Participants were surveyed via direct interview (CAPI), telephone (CATI), and online questionnaire (CAWI).
