On December 17, President’s Chief of Staff Zbigniew Bogucki unleashed a barrage at opposition leader Donald Tusk during a televised debate over the “Chain Law”, sparking a row that ended with PiS slogan “Enough With Communism”.
Bogucki Targets Tusk Over “Chain Law” Veto
Zbigniew Bogucki said on Wednesday, December 17 that the attempt to override President Karol Nawrocki’s veto on the “Chain Law” demonstrated the Coalition’s desire for a “political circus” on October 15. He suggested that today’s debate, instead of focusing on the presidential law, was merely a game to stir emotions and avoid real issues.
Bogucki’s Sarcastic Commentary on Citizens
Later, Bogucki referred to a post by Donald Tusk after Nawrocki’s veto. He sarcastically asked Tusk what patients who cannot see a doctor, children, pregnant women, and the elderly who face loss of most free medications had done to him. He pointed to court workers who displayed slogans and demanded increases, and finally asked what voters had done for Tusk’s failure to meet his promises. Bogucki added that on Monday, December 15, Deputy Health Minister Katarzyna Kacperczyk announced that the ministry would not restrict the availability of free medicine for seniors and children.
PiS’s “Enough With Communism” Chants
Bogucki also reacted to remarks by Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who described President Nawrocki as “a person built on nationalist obsessions, a continuation of the worst traditions of Roman Dmowski, not in an intellectual but stadium version.” Bogucki warned the marshal that he had no right to speak like that to the president. In response, PiS members shouted, “Enough with Communism.”
Reaction to Sejm Marshal’s Remarks
Bogucki declared that President Nawrocki is built on the idea of a free, sovereign, proud Poland, whereas the marshal is built on the idea of the Polish United Workers’ Party. He stated that the marshal must not address the president in such a manner.
