The Gdańsk District Prosecutor’s Office announced on 11 December that it is overseeing an inquiry led by the Central Office for Combating Cybercrime into sexual offences involving minors in various Pomeranian towns from 2004 to 2024, following a complaint by the Pelplin Diocese Chancellor about a priest. Radio ZET reporter Maciej Bąk states that the case concerns priest Waldemar P. and that large amounts of material have been secured.
Investigation Details
The case was opened for sexual exploitation of a minor, rape, and coercion of sexual activity. During the proceedings, the parish building where the clergyman lived was searched, and a mobile phone was seized. A forensic IT expert reviewed correspondence from 2019‑2024, containing intimate messages exchanged with several people, both minor boys and adult men. The analysis identified four victims, who were then interrogated.
Legal Action
The 56‑year‑old priest, Waldemar P., was detained. The prosecutor charged him with four crimes against sexual freedom involving four victims. He was temporarily arrested for three months.
