Olszewski Announces Legal Action Against Tusk
Father Michał Olszewski has announced he will pursue legal action against Donald Tusk, including a private criminal complaint for defamation and a civil lawsuit alleging infringement of personal rights.
Tusk’s Allegations Regarding Zondacrypto Funding
In early April, Prime Minister Tusk stated that information from the ABW (Internal Security Agency) indicated that Przemysław Kral, the CEO of Zondacrypto, made payments to two foundations in October and November 2023, prior to a parliamentary vote on cryptocurrency regulations.
Tusk specifically mentioned a 450,000 złoty payment to the Zbigniew Ziobro’s “Instytut Polski Suwerennej” foundation, alleging that some of these funds were used to pay lawyers for Dariusz Matecki and Father Michał Olszewski. A lawyer for Olszewski has denied these claims as “completely untrue.”
Additional Funds Linked to Zondacrypto
Tusk also stated that another company associated with Zondacrypto and Kral made a transaction of 70,000 euros to the “Dobry Rząd” foundation of Confederation MP Przemysław Wipler. He further noted that Zondacrypto sponsored a CPAC event attended by President Andrzej Duda and Karol Nawrocki during the presidential campaign.
Lawyers Prepare Lawsuits
Following Tusk’s statements, Olszewski’s legal team is preparing lawsuits against the Prime Minister, as reported by Radio Maryja.
Funding for Olszewski’s Defense
Krzysztof Wąsowski, one of Olszewski’s lawyers, stated that his participation in the defense is funded by the Congregation of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, with permission from the provincial superior. Mecenas Skwarzyński is providing pro bono legal services, while a third lawyer is being paid by “friends of the priest who have no ties to the cryptocurrency market.”
Potential Use of Damages
According to Olszewski’s lawyer, any damages received would be donated to support the fight against post-traumatic stress disorders.
