The Polish government has extended national terror alert levels—including BRAVO for the country and CHARLIE for specific railway infrastructure—from June 1 through August 31 to mitigate ongoing security threats.
National BRAVO Alert Extended
The Government Security Centre confirmed that the Prime Minister signed four ordinances under the Anti-Terrorism Act. These measures will be in effect from June 1 at 00:00 until August 31 at 23:59.
The BRAVO alert level will apply across the entire country, signaling an increased and predictable threat of a terrorist event. This requires public administration and services to maintain a state of heightened vigilance.
Simultaneously, the BRAVO-CRP level remains in effect to address cybersecurity threats, mandating that public administration units intensify monitoring of ICT system security.
CHARLIE Alert for Rail Infrastructure
The third-tier CHARLIE alert level will remain active on railway lines managed by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. and PKP Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa Sp. z o.o. This is currently the highest security level in force in Poland.
This designation mandates the activation of emergency duty personnel tasked with responding to potential terrorist incidents. The CHARLIE level was originally implemented on the railways following acts of sabotage that occurred in November of last year.
Energy Infrastructure Protection
A separate ordinance extends the BRAVO alert level specifically for Polish energy infrastructure located outside the borders of the Republic of Poland. This mandate is also valid from June 1 through August 31.
Under Polish law, alert levels are established, modified, and revoked by the Prime Minister after consultation with the Minister of the Interior and the Head of the Internal Security Agency (ABW). In urgent cases, the Minister of the Interior may act independently, provided the Prime Minister is subsequently informed.
