Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk mourned the death of former Supreme Court president Adam Strzembosz, who died on 10 October at age 95.

Donald Tusk announced the former judge’s passing and recalled his steadfast defense of the Constitution and rule of law.
He cited Strzembosz’s 2019 statement that Poland would remain home to decent people and noted that the former judge had given great hope to those ideals.

European Parliament member Andrzej Halicki expressed deep sorrow, praising Strzembosz as a champion of independent judiciary and a model of courage, wisdom, and service to Poland.
Strzembosz’s Legacy
He served as vice‑minister of justice in 1989‑1990, the first president of the Supreme Court, and chief of the State Tribunal from 1990 to 1998.
From 1994 to 1998 he chaired the National Judicial Council.
Early Union Involvement
In 1980 he helped organize independent trade union structures within the Ministry of Justice, later becoming a member of the Coordination Commission of the Solidarity union.
