Poland’s Educational Research Institute proposes two teaching frameworks for schools, facing opposition from science teachers over reduced hours for advanced subjects.
Proposed Frameworks
The Educational Research Institute has developed two concepts for framework teaching plans for post-primary schools. School directors will have the option to choose one of these concepts.
Polish Association of Natural Science Teachers (PSNPP) has sent a letter to the Ministry of National Education (MEN) leadership, appealing for modifications to the proposed solutions.
Concerns Over Reduced Hours
While some proposals are welcomed, such as reducing the total number of hours in technical schools, other suggestions raise concerns. Both concepts foresee a reduction in hours allocated to expanded subjects throughout the entire cycle of education – from 22 to 18 hours.
PSNPP states in its letter to MEN: “Both proposed teaching frameworks, in terms of reducing the number of hours for expanded subjects, should not see the light of day.”
