Prosecutor Discontinues Investigation into Warsaw Area Warehouse Fire

default

Polish prosecutors have discontinued an investigation into a July 2025 warehouse fire near Warsaw after determining it was accidental, not arson.

Prosecutor Discontinues Investigation

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Mińsk Mazowiecki has discontinued the investigation into the fire that destroyed a production-warehouse hall in Mińsk Mazowiecki on July 13, 2025. The fire, which threatened property on a large scale, caused complete destruction of the building and its equipment, valued at over 50 million PLN.

Fire Details

The fire began around 19:30 on July 13, 2025, at a production-warehouse facility located at Dźwigowa 13 street. The several-decade-old building, with a mixed structure and approximately 4,600 square meters of floor space, was completely consumed by flames and smoke that spread rapidly.

Evidence Collection

During the investigation, prosecutors secured technical documentation of the hall and its systems, analyzed internal and external surveillance footage, and conducted a thorough inspection of the site. Representatives of companies operating in the building and their employees were also interviewed as witnesses.

Expert Findings

According to experts from the Fire Academy, the fire was not intentionally set. The investigation concluded that an emergency condition in a fragment of the electrical installation, located in the ceiling space of the hall, initiated the combustion process that spread to flammable materials.

Rooftop Not Causally Linked

While experts noted that regular moisture from a leaking roof could have contributed to the electrical failure, they specifically stated that the improper technical condition of the roof was not causally linked to the fire itself.

Prosecutor’s Conclusion

Based primarily on the expert opinions, prosecutor Bartłomiej Świderski concluded that the event did not meet the elements of the crime of arson, leading to the discontinuation of the investigation.
