Prosecutors Seek Detention for Teen Attackers in Warsaw

Warsaw prosecutors have requested the temporary arrest of two suspects following the brutal assault on three Ukrainian teenagers on the Świętokrzyski Bridge, an incident involving five attackers using pepper spray and brass knuckles.

The Assault on Świętokrzyski Bridge

On May 7, three Ukrainian teenagers were attacked on the Świętokrzyski Bridge in Warsaw. One of the victims required hospitalization due to the severity of the injuries sustained during the encounter. Police investigations, based on current evidence, indicate that the incident was not motivated by nationality.

Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński addressed the situation on Friday, confirming that five Polish citizens, aged 15 to 18, were detained in connection with the assault. He emphasized a policy of zero tolerance for such aggression.

Legal Actions and Detentions

The Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office has filed motions for the temporary arrest of the two adult suspects. Three minors involved in the attack have been placed in a juvenile detention center by the court.

Prosecutor Karolina Staros stated that the attackers utilized pepper spray and brass knuckles. The victims suffered varying degrees of injury, with one person requiring medical treatment for more than seven days. The two primary suspects, Leon Marek M. and Wiktor O-K., face charges for assault with a dangerous weapon and could face up to eight years in prison.
