Polish law now requires protected workplaces to notify regional authorities when closing nursing facilities.
Legal Requirement to Report Closures
This requirement stems from a response by the office of the government plenipotentiary for disabled persons (BON) to an inquiry from Edyta Sieradzka, an expert on employing disabled persons from the Federation of Polish Entrepreneurs.
Amendment to Rehabilitation Act
The change is related to an amendment to the Act of August 27, 1997, on social and vocational rehabilitation and employment of disabled persons (as amended by Journal of Laws of 2025, No. 913), which took effect on January 1, 2025.
Changes to Obligations for Protected Workplaces
The amendment modified Article 28, paragraph 1, point 3, which specifies obligations for entities operating in the protected labor market. Under the new provision, employers in protected workplaces (ZPChr) and vocational activity centers (ZAZ) are no longer required to provide immediate medical care to employees.
Maintained Healthcare Services
The requirement to provide specialist care, counseling, and rehabilitation services remains unchanged despite the amendment to immediate medical care provisions.
