PSE to Invest in Cameras, Anti-Drone Tech for Safer Lithuanian Grid Connection

Poland’s PSE utility will use €21.5 million from EU Connecting Europe Facility to enhance power grid security along the Lithuanian border with cameras and anti-drone systems.

EU Funding for Critical Infrastructure

Poland will receive €21.5 million to protect critical infrastructure related to synchronizing Baltic power systems with the rest of Europe. This funding comes from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

An additional €91.5 million will be allocated to other countries.

PSE’s Security Measures

The awarded €21.5 million will be used for additional network infrastructure security measures, including camera systems and anti-drone solutions.

According to DGP Maciej Wapiński, spokesman for PSE, these security enhancements will be incorporated during the design phase to increase the overall security of the network, particularly important in the critical Suwałki region.

He noted that new geopolitical conditions necessitate these additional protective measures compared to plans from a few years ago.
