On December 13, Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz launched PSL’s 2027 campaign, warning rivals are “idiots from Braun,” after two years of the coalition government.
Kosiniak‑Kamysz on the Second Anniversary of the Government’s Inauguration
Two years after Donald Tusk’s coalition government was sworn in, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz attended a PSL Supreme Council meeting on Saturday, December 13.
The party president urged PSL members to “show more of their achievements,” citing the European Commission’s approval of public aid for the Polish atom, the halt to grain imports from Ukraine after the government took power, and the introduction of a holiday from the Social Insurance Institution for entrepreneurs.
“This is already the election campaign in which we will participate from today,” he said. “It will not start in 2027; for PSL it began in 2025. We must prove our role and what we stand for more often than anyone else.” He added that PSL has many reasons to be proud and must daily demonstrate its work on national and local levels.
‘Normals’ from PSL and Idiots from Braun
Kosiniak‑Kamysz described his party’s future as “walking a thin line between radicalism and normality.” He highlighted the dilemma of choosing bright colors or seeking a common denominator, and expressed hope that PSL leadership would focus on building a road to the future, not just a path.
Referencing the political project he co‑developed with Szymon Hołownia and Polska 2050, he warned that in 2027 the choice will be simple: either respectable, prepared, responsible “normals” from PSL or “idiots from Braun.”
Addressing coalition partners – Civic Coalition, the Left, and Polska 2050 – he reminded that elections are not won alone. “They [PiS – the red] won the elections, took first place in 2023, and now throw themselves around,” said the Minister of Defence. “One can occupy third or fourth place and still have real influence on what happens.” He concluded that the whole team plays on the field, and every member must be respected.
PSL Below the Electoral Threshold
A recent IPSOS poll published by Radio ZET on December 12 shows that Władysław Kosiniak‑Kamysz’s PSL again falls short of the electoral threshold, securing only 3 % of the vote.
The Civic Coalition would win with 30 %, while Law and Justice would take second place at 25 %. Confederation came third with 13 %, and three other parties – Confederation of the Polish Crown, New Left, and Together – would enter Parliament with 7 %, 7 %, and 6 % respectively.
Polska 2050, part of a coalition, also fell below the threshold with 3 %.
