On August 10, Poland’s ruling PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński was reprimanded for calling TVN24 journalist Radomir Wit a “bastard” during a parliamentary session, according to PAP.
Reprimand for Insulting a Journalist
Jarosław Kaczyński received a formal reprimand and warning for referring to TVN24 journalist Radomir Wit as a “bastard”. The sanctions were recorded on the same day as the Smolensk memorial anniversary, a decision made by the parliamentary disciplinary committee.
PiS parliamentary figure Ewa Schadler, in an interview with PAP, said the words used by Kaczyński over Radomir Wit were “indecent” and that “the language used—calling people “trash”—is disrespectful” to both the journalist and the public.
Controversy at the Smolensk Anniversary
During a statement at the monument to the Smolensk crash victims on Piłsudski Square, Kaczyński was shouted at by a group using a megaphone, with the word “liar” repeated. He responded by criticizing the special services and current government staff, predicting they would end up in prison if they did not fulfil their duties.
Confrontation in the Parliamentary Corridor
After the oath-taking of Karol Nawrocki on 6 August, journalist Radomir Wit asked Kaczyński several questions. When the journalist attempted to ask a follow‑up question, Kaczyński replied, “I do not talk to bastards,” and dismissed him, calling the journalist a “bastard” before leaving.
