Russian President Putin condemns killing of Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Chamenei as “cynical violation of law and morality.”

Russian agencies Interfax and TASS reported on a condolence telegram stating: “Please accept my deepest condolences in connection with the murder of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Ali Chamenei, and members of his family, committed with a cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.”
Putin added that in Russia, Ayatollah Chamenei “will be remembered as an outstanding statesman who made a huge personal contribution to the development of friendly Russian-Iranian relations and their elevation to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership.”
“Please convey words of most sincere sympathy and support to the family and relatives of the Supreme Leader, the government and the entire nation of Iran,” emphasized the Russian president.
Iran Confirms Death
Iranian authorities have confirmed that Ali Chamenei “martyred” despite prolonged uncertainty about his condition and whereabouts. The Israeli Defense Forces has claimed responsibility for eliminating the leader of the Islamic Republic.
According to media reports, the operation was conducted as part of extensive military actions based on detailed intelligence data. On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a military operation against Iran. The targets were major Iranian cities, including Tehran. The White House and U.S. President Donald Trump justified the actions by the missile and nuclear threat from Iran.
Temporary Leadership
Iran’s state television announced that the duties of the supreme leader until the election of a successor will be taken over by a leadership council. This information was conveyed by Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani. The situation in the region remains tense. Iran continues to send its rockets to regional countries in retaliation for the killing of the leader and several other high-ranking individuals.
