A helicopter crash during a training flight over Qatari territorial waters in the Persian Gulf resulted in seven fatalities, including one Turkish soldier.
Helicopter Crash Results in Multiple Fatalities
The crash, which occurred during a training flight over the Persian Gulf within Qatari territorial waters, claimed the lives of seven individuals. Among the victims are one Turkish soldier and two civilian employees of the Turkish firm Aselsan, according to a statement from the Turkish Ministry of Defense released Sunday.
Four Qatari soldiers also perished in the incident. Initial reports from local authorities indicated six deaths and a search for a seventh person, who was later confirmed to be among the fatalities.
No Link to US-Israel-Iran Conflict
Qatari authorities have stated that the helicopter was conducting “standard operations,” indicating the crash was not related to the ongoing conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran. Details regarding the specific exercises the helicopter was participating in were not disclosed.
Qatar’s Ministry of Defense has expressed condolences to the families of the victims and announced an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
