Rachoń Ran After Departing Ziobro. Now He Will Stand Before Court

Former TV Republika presenter Michał Rachoón faces court after police charged him with two infractions related to an incident involving former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro.

Michał Rachoń and the Case of Zbigniew Ziobro

The situation is related to an incident that occurred on January 31 of last year. Former Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro was detained by police at the TV Republika headquarters in Warsaw.

As Ziobro’s car was leaving the television station, TV Republika presenter Michał Rachoń ran after it. Officers were bringing Ziobro before a parliamentary investigative committee regarding Pegasus.

Rachoń to Stand Before Court

The portal Blaskonline.pl reported that Michał Rachoń will stand before court. The Road Traffic Department of the Metropolitan Police sent a letter to Rachoń stating a request for punishment will be sent to the District Court for Warsaw-Śródmieście.

Rachoń will answer for two infractions: walking on the road despite the obligation to use a sidewalk, and using a phone or electronic device while crossing the road. The journalist did not appear for questioning as summoned.

“A Fascinating Trial is Being Prepared”

“I’m glad that experts from the Metropolitan Police’s Road Traffic Department are usefully spending long hours of our tax money on service. Certainly no superior pressured to deal with this urgent matter. A fascinating court trial is being prepared,” Michał Rachoń commented on the X platform.

Police Repeatedly Attempted to Contact

In February of last year, “a third party” filed a report of suspicion of an infraction committed by Michał Rachoń. Police repeatedly attempted to contact the journalist, with correspondence finally received at his workplace.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the journalist did not appear to provide explanations until January 14 of this year, when contact was established through a representative.

Police on “Respect for Law”

The Metropolitan Police states it could not trivialize the matter, as regulations and respect for the law—which should be applied equally to all—do not allow it.

Due to the approaching statute of limitations, a request for punishment was prepared and submitted. The police claim that failure to take this action would expose the conducting officer to a charge of failure to fulfill duties.
