Explosion Blocks Warsaw‑Lublin Freight Line
On the section between Warsaw and Lublin, close to the village of Mika in the Masovian Voivodeship, a bomb‑laden explosive device destroyed a railway track. The damage caused a complete halt in train traffic on that segment, creating significant transportation delays.
Emergency Teams Secure Site and Launch Investigation
Immediately after the blast, police, the prosecutor’s office and other specialist services arrived on the scene and secured the area. Procedures were initiated to determine the cause of the explosion and to identify those responsible.
Additional Damage Near Lublin Indicates Scope of Attack
Investigators later found further damage to the tracks closer to Lublin, suggesting that the perpetrators targeted the entire rail section. This wider damage increases the seriousness of the incident.
Prime Minister Confirms Unprecedented Act of Disruption
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the act was “an unprecedented act of disruption aimed at the safety of the Polish state and its citizens,” and that an investigation is ongoing. He added that the perpetrators will be brought to justice regardless of who ordered the attack.
Ongoing Investigation Under Prosecution, Security Measures Tightened
The prosecution will continue the investigation in the coming days, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. Authorities also promise that all efforts will be made to identify the culprits quickly and to ensure safety on other railway lines.
