Rakowiecka Street to Close for Final Asphalt Paving This Weekend

Final asphalt work on Rakowiecka Street in Warsaw is scheduled for this weekend, beginning Friday evening and concluding Monday morning, impacting traffic.

Final Asphalt Work Scheduled for Rakowiecka Street

The final asphalt paving on Rakowiecka Street is planned for this weekend, starting around 10:00 PM on Friday, March 20th, and finishing on Monday morning, March 23rd.

During this time, vehicle traffic will be prohibited between Puławska and Kazimierzowska streets. Tram line 19 will continue to operate without changes.

Part of Larger Tram Line Project

This work is the final stage of roadwork on Rakowiecka Street, following the completion of the tram tracks in December. The project is part of the tram line extension to Wilanów, funded by EU funds.

Balzola Polska, the project contractor, will lay the final layer of asphalt.

Weekend Road Closure Details

Rakowiecka Street will be closed to traffic from Kazimierzowska to Puławska during the weekend.

Alternative Routes Available

Drivers can use Madalińskiego or Stefana Batorego streets as alternative routes to avoid the closure.

Partial Reopening and Future Work

Tram traffic will be able to use the section of Rakowiecka Street between Kazimierzowska and Puławska on Monday, but the section from Kazimierzowska to Aleja Niepodległości will remain closed.

Remaining work includes completing road markings, reprogramming traffic lights, and adjusting them to neighboring streets. The entire Rakowiecka Street is expected to be fully open by mid-April, including the return of the turn across the tram tracks at the Puławska intersection. Planting new greenery will continue until June.
