FBI released a suspect in the kidnapping of NBC Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother, offering $50,000 reward for information.
Suspect Released
American authorities released on February 11 a person detained in connection with the kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of NBC presenter. The man was questioned in Rio Rico, Arizona, and his car and home were searched.
The man, cited by CNN, stated: “I don’t even know who Nancy Guthrie is, I work as a delivery driver.” He added: “I was told I was arrested in a kidnapping case. I asked: ‘who did I kidnap?’ I told them I might have delivered a package to their house, but I never kidnapped anyone.”
FBI Reward Offered
Earlier, the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released a recording from a doorbell camera at Guthrie’s home, made on the night of her disappearance. It shows a masked, armed person.
The FBI emphasized in a statement on platform X: “The FBI is offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information that will lead to the finding of Nancy Guthrie and/or to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for her disappearance.”
Disappearance Details
The recording was made on February 1, when authorities informed that Guthrie was likely kidnapped for ransom. NBC presenter’s mother was last seen with family on January 31. Her disappearance was reported the next day when she failed to appear at a service.
